Bryan Northup (he/him) is a poet and visual artist based in Oak Park, Illinois, whose sculptural work with discarded plastics and waste-stream materials shares its ecological and material concerns with his poetry. The relationship between what we discard and what endures runs through both practices. A graduate of California College of the Arts (BFA, Fine Art Photography), his artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. He is the Executive Director of the historic Oak Park Art League, where he has spent his career at the intersection of art, community, and advocacy.
His poetry has appeared in Oberon Magazine, the nature anthology Nature Knows the Way, and Beyond Queer Poetry. Ongoing Unknowing is his first chapbook, a collection of eco poems tracing wonder, complicity, and ecological grief through childhood memory, urban nature, and the deep time hidden inside ordinary things. He lives in Oak Park with his husband, two sons, and a cat named Moira Rose.
