All This And More responds to our interactions with a uniquely modern material: plastic.
To think, “plastic was once a dinosaur,” brings to mind an ancient yet ongoing process of transformation on our planet.
At the end of this process, plastic is our human footprint, impact, and marker on this planet. Yet, there is one more phase, to transform what we see as trash into art.
The techniques I use with this material physically articulate the concepts of reducing, compressing, rolling, recycling and ultimately transformation from trash to art. Heat and pressure used in my technique mimic geological processes. Plastic transcends trash and becomes a kind of paint for making marks.
Slice by slice, an abstract sculptural mural has formed from rolled and sliced single-use plastics. Its a Rorschach test of how we view plastics, our environment, other beings
